Counselors' Role

What do we do?

  • Register new students
  • Provide individual counseling for students
  • Assist students with personal/social, academic or career issues
  • Facilitate small groups for students (on self-slected basis)
  • Conduct conferences with parents
  • Meet with administrators
  • Provide classroom guidance as necessary
  • Respond to student needs in crisis situations
  • Participate in the referral process of students to special services
  • Coordinate efforts with other school specialists
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers and others to help students
  • Refer parents and students to outside resources
  • Interpret EXPLORE test results
  • Write and coordinate 504 plans
  • Coordinate school-wide Safe and Drug Free activities
  • Help students who are dealing with attendance issues
  • Plan Husky Student of the Quarter celebrations
